DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD PROGRESS

I decided to print screen my progress throughout the development of my double page spread to see how  I used new ideas and whether or not I did this successfully. Below are the pictures I took, finishing with the final piece.

This is the first print screen I took which reveals that I already added my text (the first thing I did) and finished it, along with a stand head to introduce the film and the director behind it. Also I had included a quote from the article and the name of the magazine, illustrating it is a review. I used a variety of text including just the plain arial font in size 11 as I wanted to create clear individual sections between page text, the title, the stand head and the quote.

For the background of the right side of the page, I created the colour I wanted (the dark gold) and added a feathered gradient in order to add some dimension to the page. I have deliberately left white space at the top as it promotes the simplicity and artistic feel of the article, perfectly matching the film itself.

This second image shows the progression I made from the first day of creating my double page spread. I added the title which is the same font used on my poster, and also made it the dark gold colour that the rest of the article possesses as I wanted to stick to my colour scheme. The only thing that isn't on my colour scheme is the yellow in the top left corner of the spread saying 'film' which is because I wanted to separate the magazines name from the article itself whilst also making it stand out.

Another thing I have added is a still from the film which is the opening shot after the title sequence. I believed this was the best image to use as it was taken with the right lighting and was still for long enough to take a picture that wasn't blurry and that would match the standard of the rest of the spread.

My finished result is shown below. All I did was added my main image and added a gradient feather in order to blend the piece together. I also added a black outline to the 'empire' logo at the top.
